Juan Ram\u00f3n Mart\u00edn (1958, Madrid) graduated as an architect from the Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid. Sculptor and professor of drawing at the Fundaci\u00f3n Universitaria CEU San Pablo.<\/p>\n
He founded the architecture and sculpture studio Kleearquitectura, which he has run since 1988 in Madrid. He has carried out numerous architectural and landscape projects. He won the COAM Award in 2005 for the Navalcarb\u00f3n Canal in Las Rozas. In 2019 he made the Monument to the Greek Sailors which was installed on the Island of Rhodes, after winning the international commemorative competition for the V Centenary of the Round the World Race.<\/p>\n
In 2006 he began his work in metal sculpture, an uninterrupted activity since then. He practices sculpture in the style called geometric abstraction, which has its roots in the constructivist art of the early 20th century. The material with which he feels most identified is steel. He is particularly interested in well-executed work. Precision and constructive cleanliness. He considers the clarity of ideas and their plastic expression as the driving force behind his work. Two elements of a sculpture (or of an architectural piece) must be united by means of a link that acts as a transition between them: it can be an empty space or an element of mass; as if they were two words joined by their respective conjunctions or adverbs. He understands that constructive syntax is fundamental in the plastic work. Each sculpture presented to the viewer must be a unique image, a proposal, an equation, an approach or a starting point. The solution remains open.
