Wonmin Park<\/b><\/span>, born in 1982 in Seoul, is a designer and artist known for his ethereal, sculptural approach to furniture. After graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven<\/b><\/span> in 2011, he collaborated with several prestigious design firms in the Netherlands before founding Studio Wonmin Park<\/b><\/span> in 2012. He later established a production workshop in Rotterdam and a creative studio in Paris, where he currently lives and works\u2014a city he considers essential for its rich cultural and historical legacy in design.<\/p>\n

Park is best known for his refined use of resin and metal<\/b><\/span>, materials he selects for their contrasting yet complementary qualities. \u201cI like resin for its color, transparency, and texture, but it\u2019s not a strong material. So I needed to create a certain kind of structure,\u201d he explains. He masterfully fuses the two seemingly opposing materials\u2014one transparent and delicate, the other solid and strong<\/b><\/span>\u2014creating works that appear to be held together by light and air<\/b><\/span>. The result is a surreal, dreamlike aesthetic that challenges traditional notions of furniture and sculpture.<\/p>\n

His creations are sculptural objects<\/b><\/span> that invite visual contemplation while also functioning as practical design pieces. \u201cIn my designs, I want the objects to speak for themselves. To be beautiful, captivating, and interact with their surroundings. My work embraces simplicity, purity, and subtlety. I want people experiencing my designs to have the space to explore their own sensations and emotions,\u201d Park says.<\/p>\n

Park\u2019s work has been featured in numerous international exhibitions, including the Salone del Mobile<\/b><\/span> in Milan, the Guild Design Fair<\/b><\/span> in Cape Town, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art<\/b><\/span> in Seoul, and the Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs<\/b><\/span> in Paris. In 2023, he collaborated with Dior<\/b><\/span> on the Lady Dior Ice Bag<\/i>, using resin to evoke the texture and appearance of ice.<\/p>\n

In 2024, his work was included in the exhibition Monumental<\/i> at Ladbroke Hall.
