Pierre Yovanovitch<\/b><\/span> is a French architect and interior designer, born and raised in Nice. With a Yugoslav industrialist father and a French mother, Yovanovitch was exposed to both discipline and culture from a young age. He studied piano at the Nice Conservatory, where he first discovered his love for opera\u2014an early influence that would later infuse his work with a strong sense of narrative and emotional depth.<\/p>\n

Initially trained in business in Paris, Yovanovitch went on to work for legendary fashion designer Pierre Cardin<\/b><\/span> for eight years, designing pr\u00eat-\u00e0-porter collections. He credits Cardin for teaching him to see design architecturally\u2014through the geometry of shapes, volumes, angles, and curves\u2014as well as for instilling in him a deep understanding of color, patterns, and detail.<\/p>\n

A passionate art collector, Yovanovitch works closely with artists and galleries to integrate contemporary art<\/b><\/span> into his projects, considering it essential to personalize and elevate a space. He frequently collaborates with artists such as Claire Tabouret<\/b><\/span>, Tadashi Kawamata<\/b><\/span>, Alicja Kwade<\/b><\/span>, Johan Creten<\/b><\/span>, Daniel Buren<\/b><\/span>, and Yan Pei-Ming<\/b><\/span>, among others. His client base, many of them collectors, has influenced his belief that art is central to interior design<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

For Yovanovitch, storytelling<\/b><\/span> lies at the heart of every project. Yovanovitch\u2019s private residence, the Ch\u00e2teau de Fabr\u00e8gues<\/b><\/span>, is located in northern Var, Provence. Originally built in the early 17th century and once owned by a family of ennobled Proven\u00e7al artisans, the ch\u00e2teau was acquired by Yovanovitch in 2009<\/b><\/span>. It remains a major source of inspiration<\/b><\/span>, nestled in nature and functioning as a creative platform. He often invites artists for in-situ residencies to produce site-specific works within its walls.<\/p>\n

Pierre Yovanovitch Mobilier (PYMO)<\/b><\/h3>\n

In 2021<\/b><\/span>, Yovanovitch launched Pierre Yovanovitch Mobilier (PYMO)<\/b><\/span> as part of the broader Pierre Yovanovitch Group<\/b><\/span>, celebrating two decades of creative practice. PYMO focuses on the design, production, and distribution of furniture, lighting, and decorative objects<\/b><\/span> for both private clients and professionals.<\/p>\n

PYMO emerged from Yovanovitch\u2019s experience designing custom interiors and evolved from earlier collections presented at R & Company<\/b><\/span> gallery in New York in 2017 and 2019. The brand champions the use of sustainable, locally sourced materials<\/b><\/span> like wood and hand-blown glass. All pieces are crafted by artisans in France, including cabinetmakers, metalworkers, upholsterers, and ceramicists, with materials like stone, plaster, and composite materials<\/b><\/span>.<\/p>\n

In 2023<\/b><\/span>, PYMO opened its first galleries in Paris and New York<\/b><\/span>, further establishing Yovanovitch\u2019s global presence in contemporary design.<\/p>\n
