Since his childhood in Castell\u00f3n, Llu\u00eds Bort has nurtured a passion for photography, assisting in the family\u2019s black-and-white darkroom, beneath the glow of the red safelight. In his youth, he joined the collective L\u2019art de la llum<\/i> in Onda, taking part in exhibitions and competitions, and receiving several awards. Through his architectural studies, he discovered the spatial and structural dimension of the image, developing both disciplines in parallel.<\/p>\n
After his early collaborations with studios such as El Fabricante de Espheras<\/i>, photographing significant projects like the Betx\u00ed Palace, emblematic squares, and collective public spaces, Llu\u00eds relocated to Palma de Mallorca more than six years ago. Since then, he has shaped his own distinct perspective in commissions ranging from architecture and urbanism to heritage and landscape, capturing the essence of contemporary works by studios such as Grupo Aranea, Tabuenca & Leache, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda S\u00e1nchez Garc\u00eda, among others.<\/p>\n
In parallel, he pursues personal projects with a strong heritage focus, such as Visi\u00f3 d\u2019un foraster<\/i>, dedicated to the windmills of Mallorca, and exhibited in Valldemossa and Times Square, New York, and Arquitecturas vac\u00edas<\/i>, a series portraying forgotten buildings across Mallorca, which has been shown at the COAIB and other cultural venues.<\/p>\n
Llu\u00eds leads a personal line of work aimed at raising public awareness of the cultural and territorial value of architectural heritage.<\/p>\n
At the same time, he teaches courses on architectural and landscape photography at the College of Architects and the College of Quantity Surveyors of Mallorca, sharing his visual approach with new generations.<\/p>\n
His photographic work transcends aesthetic considerations, seeking to reveal the hidden history embedded in the built environment. In Arquitecturas vac\u00edas<\/i>, he controls the light and soft gradients of the sky to present abandoned buildings as \u201carchitectural gems,\u201d advocating for their restoration and the potential of a \u201csecond life.\u201d In Visi\u00f3 d\u2019un foraster<\/i>, his portraits of stone giants\u2014the windmills of Mallorca\u2014are rendered with both respect and poetry, giving voice to a collective memory bound to self-sufficiency and local identity.<\/p>\n
Llu\u00eds Bort\u2019s photographic narrative blends technical precision, an inheritance from his training as an architect, with a deep and moving sensitivity.
