Nordest Arquitectura, founded in Palau-Sator (Girona) in 2016, works on projects on different scales with commissions for private and public buildings, including housing, residential, hotel, educational and cultural uses. The studio specialises in both new build projects and refurbishments and renovations, including listed buildings and protected heritage environments. Its projects have been published in various media and specialised press.
Nordest Arquitectura’s built work includes several houses built and refurbished since 2016, among the most outstanding are house 1510, house 1603, house 1615 and house 1707. The refurbishment of his studio in 2018, the refurbishment of the hotel La Bionda in 2020, the refurbishment of the wall in La Bisbal d’Empordà in 2021, and the refurbishment of the access road to Port Lligat in 2022. The studio is currently developing projects on the Costa Brava, in the counties of Girona, Barcelona, Madrid and Mallorca. They have worked on projects in Canada and Senegal and are initiating projects in several countries in the Middle East.
Nordest Arquitectura has been awarded twice in the Architecture Awards of the counties of Girona in 2019 and 2021. Their works have been nominated several times in the Girona County Architecture Awards, organised by the Official College of Architects of Catalonia. They were selected for the German Design Awards 2023. Their projects have participated in the FAD Awards and the European Award for Architectural Heritage Intervention.
Nordest Arquitectura has been on the jury of the Buildner architecture competitions and has given lectures to explain their work at the College of Architects of Catalonia.
Jordi Riembau Ribot, born in 1975 in Sant Feliu de Boada (Girona), is an architect by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia since 2003. After collaborating in several architectural studios in the city of Barcelona, in 2004 he founded, together with Anna López, the TAB_arquitectes studio. In 2011 he created his own studio, This is Estudi d’Arquitectura, where he developed projects for the counties of Girona, mainly in the Baix Empordà area. In early 2016, together with Miquel Rusca, he formed This IS Estudi d’Arquitectura SLP. In 2018, also with Miquel Rusca, he founded Nordest Arquitectura SLP.
Miquel Rusca Mestre, born in 1987 in Sant Sadurní de l’Heura (Girona), is an architect by the Polytechnic School of Architecture of Girona since 2014. After working in the family office of Domènec Rusca for 6 years, in 2012 he worked in the Hidalgo-Hartmann architecture studio in Barcelona. In 2014 he collaborated with Jordi Riembau’s studio This IS Estudi d’Arquitectura, becoming part of the company This IS Estudi d’Arquitectura SLP in 2016. In 2018, together with Jordi Riembau, he founded Nordest Arquitectura SLP.
