Graduating from ETSAM in 2009 and earning a Master’s in Advanced Architectural Projects in 2012, Montse found in architectural photography a means to translate the essence of built space. Her creative path was also shaped by her time in Shanghai, where she worked as an architect while documenting the construction of the Spanish Pavilion at Expo 2010.
Her education expanded further with a Master’s in Branding at SVA and another in Integrated Marketing at NYU, supported by Fulbright and LaCaixa scholarships. In these studies, she fused her passion for the image with a deep understanding of architectural values and their communication.
As a freelance photographer, she has collaborated with renowned studios such as Foster + Partners, Álvaro Siza, and Héctor Fernández Elorza. Her images have been published in TASCHEN, Casabella, Architectural Record, and Arquitectura Viva, among others. Her work has been exhibited internationally in cities such as Madrid, Valencia, Milan, and Shanghai, and has received recognition in international photography awards.
Montse regularly teaches workshops and lectures at institutions such as Harvard, Pratt, ETSAM, Keio University, and NJIT, where she shares her expertise in photography and branding.
Among her most notable projects are Deconstructing NYC—a video-documentary capturing one hundred construction sites across New York City as a reflection of its urban metamorphosis—and collaborations with architecture studios including Bojaus Arquitectura, Jesús Donaire, Núñez Ribot Arquitectos, Miguel Quismondo, María Milans, and Almazán Studio Lab.
A poetic and committed gaze
Since adolescence, Montse has cultivated an obsession with light, composition, and the essence of space. She received her first camera at the age of 13, developing an eye trained to capture what transcends the material.
Her style shuns artifice, relying on the natural harmony of light and stillness—like a silent dance between proportion and emotion. This architectural discipline, combined with emotional sensitivity, turns her images into poetic, pulsing, and profoundly human narratives.
A bridge between two worlds
Montse Zamorano weaves connections between architectural discipline and the new tools of visual communication: branding, video, digital tours… In each image, she integrates sustainability, visual poetry, and empathy.
For Exágono, her biography reads like a testament to commitment—a professional practice that investigates, reflects, and articulates visual narratives rooted in people and their communities. A creator who, more than photographing buildings, captures inhabitable dreams.
