Casa dels Vents, designed by Ramón Esteve, is integrated into the environment with water and vegetation as protagonists.

Situated on the edge of a consolidated residential area, the first thing that stands out about the house is its position in relation to the rectangular plot. The house seeks to spread out along the longest length in order to achieve a good orientation and generate better views, thus giving greater privacy to the porch and swimming pool area.

In order to integrate it into the landscape and minimise the impact of a hill on one side, a large vegetation background is created. A sheet of water extends to one of the corners of the plot, evoking a pond through its dark tones.

The powerful volumetry of the complex is resolved by means of a white concrete shell with large overhangs, dividing the plot in two and generating different degrees of privacy in the interior. The north coincides with a blind masonry façade where a large window marks the access to the dwelling. The south façade, on the other hand, is understood to be light, resolved solely with wood and glass in order to open up to the garden and provide sunlight.

The ground floor is laid out as a continuous and fluid space that houses the day areas, presided over by a double-height living room with the swimming pool as a backdrop. The night area is located on the first floor, where a large hall separates the children’s area from the master bedroom with a private terrace.

Wide double-height overhangs extend the interior rooms towards the exterior. The kitchen extends through a porch that houses the barbecue and an outdoor dining area, while a large overhang connects the living room with the swimming pool, creating a shaded area for relaxation.

The house blends into its surroundings through its materiality. White concrete forms the enclosure of the house in order to minimise the impact of this powerful volume. The back walls are made of ivory cream masonry, which is also used for the flooring. The wood is combined in two shades; the darker one is used for the exterior carpentry, while a lighter one is chosen for the interior to bring light and warmth to the space.

Ramón Esteve Estudio

Ramón Esteve founded the studio in 1991 with the conviction that architecture was a global discipline. They have gradually formed a team of professionals connected by the pursuit of a common goal, to generate creative responses in our environment by creating unique places, objects and brands. Today the studio is a place where architects, designers and creatives work together to develop projects with character.

For this studio, architecture and design are complementary disciplines that mutually enrich each other and are, in a way, inseparable. They start any work by paying attention to all the parameters that contain it with the aim of achieving a result with maximum clarity, simplicity, order and harmony.

Their identity is evident in their work. The responsibility for a job well done forces them to focus on the details and to take care of the complete development of an idea. What at first is just a thought or an idea, with effort and perseverance evolves to become a reality, a space or an object.

They care as much about the process as they do about the result, which is why the experience of a project goes from the very first minute to its materialisation.
