Tim Rundle founded his studio in London in 2015 and works with a portfolio of international clients from his base in Tamaki Makau Rau(Auckland), Aotearoa (New Zealand). With expertise in furniture, lighting, housewares, technology and transport, the studio’s work is context-driven and has focused on designing products and systems that exist at the intersection between architecture and its inhabitants. A concern for simplicity, improvement and the pragmatic application of creativity, combined with a rigorous and informed approach to the technical aspects of materials and fabrication, leads to outcomes that are at once useful, engaging and relevant.

Tim graduated from the School of Architecture and Design at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He then went to work for Auckland-based consultancy Formworks Design where, among other projects, he developed the concept for Air New Zealand’s innovative skycouch and spaceseat seating systems. In 2008 he moved to London to work for design consultancy Priestmangoode. He then went on to work for the renowned British designer Tom Dixon, where he was head designer of the furniture and lighting design team. Prior to founding his own studio in 2015, Tim was a design director at Conran and Partners, the multi-disciplinary design studio founded by Sir Terence Conran.

Alongside his studio, Tim is involved in design teaching across some major Universities, including as a Platform Tutor in Design Products at the Royal College of Art (2015-2019), Visiting Lecturer at Central St Martins, and as an External Examiner in Product Design at the University of Brighton.
