Alicia Luxem sends us from Paris this beautiful interior design project that she tells us about. Whenever possible, we like architects, designers, interior designers, decorators or craftsmen to explain their creative process and the details of the development of their projects.
The Turenne project is the first floor I designed for this client, who wanted a very relaxing space with lots of natural materials. We made sure that all the walls were lime plastered, the floor was covered in solid wood, the carpets were made of wool and alpaca, while metal was the main material used in the kitchen. The custom-made furniture was made of solid wood and finished with natural paints.
I love the fact that the flat has a very soft and calm covering in beige and natural tones. In addition to various colourful treasures, such as carefully selected new and antique furniture, the whole interior is complemented by a collection of avant-garde art.

The flat is accessed through a perfectly symmetrical rectangular entrance with a beautiful mirror on its axis. Symmetry is an important element in my work, as it brings harmony. On the right you enter the dining room and kitchen through a large plaster archway. To the left you enter the large living room.

From the lounge you walk through another archway to access the library/study with an access to a small but very nice bathroom with a large traditional window.

If you walk back towards the entrance you have 2 large double arched doors giving access to the sleeping area. To your left a first bedroom with its own washbasin open to the bedroom and to your right the master bedroom. In the master bedroom we wanted the bed to face the window and create a really enveloping feeling. Hence we designed a long curved wall for the headboard of the bed, creating a specific enveloping atmosphere. To the left of the bed is the dressing room and to the right is the bathroom.

My choice of materials and colours is usually quite instinctive when I work on a project. When I visit a space I have a vision that becomes my narrative throughout the design process.
Natural light was accentuated by the appropriate use of curtains and blinds, with very delicate colours and quality fabrics; for example, the curtains in the living room are all 100% wool.
My style is very much based on attention to detail, proportions, materials and colours. Symmetry, elegance and the feeling that it has always been there are also important factors when I draw a project. I always take into account the uniqueness of a place, the history and specificity of an existing structure and listen carefully to my client, who also has his past, his personality and his wishes.
