Cristina Vallejo

Cristina Vallejo is an architect by profession and knows very well the importance of volumes and the value of materials. In 2014 she founded the furniture and product editor Elsur.

Moving between design, craftsmanship and art, her proposals explore new possibilities of use, processes and materials, taking the Spanish tradition as a source of inspiration. He develops unique, handmade pieces, with which he proposes new ways of looking at handmade objects. Objects with multiple layers of meaning, capable of transmitting more than what we see. In his work, contemporary design and traditional Spanish crafts are combined to generate new expressions that adapt to the times in which we live.

I believe that objects created with the hands have the capacity to transmit more than what we see with the naked eye and, therefore, to connect with the user in a deeper way. I am interested in the relationship that we establish with objects, the value that each person places on them, how they form part of our lives, of our memories. Objects must communicate and transmit emotions” says Cristina.

She has participated in different exhibitions such as the VIII and X International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art, the Lake Como Design Festival, Producto Fresco 2015, 2019 and 2021 or Cuidado Diseño y Madre Natura within MDF 19 and MDF23 among others.
