Eugeni Pons

Born in Barcelona in 1964, Eugeni Pons discovered his passion for photography at the age of thirteen, when he acquired his first SLR camera, a Canon AE-1. He studied Philosophy at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) while simultaneously completing a five-year photography program at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya (IEFC).

In 1992, he began his professional career by establishing a commercial photography studio with a partner. By 1995, he had decided to pursue his true calling: architectural photography. He started by building a personal portfolio, and his first images were published in Casa Viva. Soon after, his collaboration with On Diseño opened the door to working with prominent architecture studios in both Barcelona and Madrid.

Eugeni Pons is widely recognised for his ability to capture the essence of architectural spaces, combining technical precision with an artistic sensibility that highlights geometry, light and materiality. His meticulous approach and capacity to convey atmosphere have made him a reference in the field of architectural and interior photography.

Over the course of his career, he has collaborated with numerous architecture studios, interior designers, and specialised publications. His work has appeared in magazines such as Wallpaper, Architectural Digest, Domus, Abitare, Arquitectura y Diseño, Diseño Interior, On Diseño and Arquitectura Viva, among many others.

One of his most notable achievements was his participation in the On Site: New Architecture in Spain exhibition at MoMA in New York in 2006, where he was shortlisted to document contemporary Spanish architecture. He has also received five LUX Awards in the architectural photography category.

Eugeni Pons has published several monographic books, including Guggenheim, Modern Interiors, Architect of Photography, and The Interior Book. He has exhibited his work in various shows, including a solo exhibition at the Greek Commercial Hall in 2004 and Barcelona-Madrid at COAC.

Beyond his professional work, Pons has been actively involved in cultural and educational initiatives. Since 2013, he has served as a trustee of the Bunka Foundation of RCR Arquitectes and participated in the first LAB-A workshops at La Vila, organised by RCR.
