With Vuota, Bover opens a new path in the way we perceive light and its connection with the environment. Designed by the Milá + Laucirica studio, this table lamp defies the usual logic that light must radiate from a core outward. Vuotainverts this paradigm. Instead of emitting, it embraces. The center is hollowed out to allow light to be absorbed, held, and returned to the space with a meditative gentleness.
More than a lamp, Vuota is a statement of intent. A piece that makes emptiness its protagonist—not to fill, but to suggest. As its creators explain: “Vuota is not just a lamp, but an original way of understanding the relationship between light and space.”
An asymmetrical aesture, a serene presence
Vuota’s eccentric and asymmetrical form is no aesthetic whim—it’s the result of a deliberate pursuit of sensuality and warmth. Its structure, resting lightly on a subtle tripod, balances with almost improbable delicacy: just three points of contact are enough to ensure its poise. This formal decision creates a restrained tension that gives the piece its character without disturbing its calm.
The use of indirect lighting, softly projected onto a surface of plywood, enables Vuota to generate immersive, intimate atmospheres. Here, light does not dazzle—it embraces.

Wood and Aluminum: A Natural Alliance
Material choice is another cornerstone of Vuota. Plywood, with reddish veins and golden hues, evokes the warmth of the organic. Aluminum, in contrast, brings precision, lightness, and a clean line that acts as a counterpoint. Together, these two elements shape a piece imbued with Mediterranean echoes, where the artisanal and the contemporary coexist in harmony.
Moreover, the integrated LED technology was carefully chosen to avoid the coldness typical of white light. Milá + Laucirica were clear in their intention: “We wanted to create a tranquil, serene, and calm ambiance—evoking the glow of the late afternoon sun.”
A poetic take on functional design
Throughout the design process, the creators posed essential questions: How to simplify without sacrificing aesthetics? How to reduce components without losing effectiveness? The answers led to a highly efficient object, easy to produce, yet rich in expressive power. A lamp that does not impose, yet transforms the space by its mere presence.

Milá + Laucirica: designing from the essential
The Barcelona-based studio Milá + Laucirica—founded by architects Leopoldo Milá and Borja Laucirica—conceives design as a synthesis of sensitivity, technical rigor, and poetic reflection. In their pieces, materiality speaks with emotion, and function intertwines with the memory of well-crafted objects. Far from trend-driven design, their work is grounded in respect for materials, resource optimization, and the search for emotionally resonant solutions.
With Vuota, they have created a lamp that is simultaneously sculpture, minimal architecture, and luminous refuge. A piece that, true to its name—“empty” in Italian—reveals that silence, too, can inhabit the heart of design.
