Susanna Cots has restored for this Empordà family the authenticity of a home whose stone speaks to us of the emotions that have always existed: well-being, family, refuge, intimacy.
“Returning to the purity of nature has been a process of acceptance and respect. Understanding that there is no right angle in this house, serves to appreciate and value the beauty of imperfection and enhance it”, explains the interior designer.
Natural style as the soul of the project
The search for functional solutions in line with the design concept developed has led the interior designer to choose continuous lime mortar flooring, which facilitates the breathability of the floors and prevents damp.
The beamed ceiling and the Catalan vault have also been recovered and lacquered in white, a colour that is one of the hallmarks of the project and which brings light into all the spaces.
The natural style, as the soul of the project, is the main feature of the stone walls and all the furniture custom-designed by Susanna Cots in solid chestnut wood.

The design of symmetrical spaces
One of the design concepts developed by Susanna Cots is the connection of interior and exterior spaces. We see this reflected in the kitchen, a vital space for family communication and the garden porch.
Fireplaces, placed in different areas of the home, are elements that appear regularly in the studio’s projects. In this case, the fireplace in the master suite, located on the top floor, is the soul of the house.
Spaces for reading and well-being
The two living rooms, on the lower and upper floors, identify spaces for reading, study and relaxation. While the one on the ground floor is designed as a corner near the fire, the upper floor incorporates a bookcase and work tables.
The night area consists of three en-suite suites with their own style for the older and younger members of the family.
The staircase, a connecting element between the lower and upper floors, is designed as a storage space at the same time.
