The project focused on reconfiguring the existing layout to create larger, light-filled spaces, complemented by custom-designed furniture that enhances both functionality and aesthetic coherence throughout the home.
Home

The interior design studio Laura Martínez Interiorismo has transformed a newly built semi-detached house near Barcelona — spanning 200 m² plus 100 m² of terraces across three floors — into a space defined by the quality of its finishes, a new open-plan layout, and a wealth of thoughtful details aimed at creating a warm and functional home.

The intervention centered on modifying the existing layout, especially on the main floor, to achieve more spacious and naturally lit interiors. Custom-designed furniture, created specifically for this project, ensures both practicality and visual harmony, with white and wood tones dominating — a warm, welcoming style that characterizes Laura Martínez’s approach.

A comfortable and elegant kitchen becomes the heart of the home

The true centerpiece of the house is the spectacular kitchen, seamlessly integrated with the living and dining areas. Featuring a central island crafted from solid chestnut wood topped with veined Silestone, open shelving, tall stools made from wood and natural fibers, and pendant lights with a brushed gold finish, the kitchen strikes a perfect balance between functionality and visual appeal. White lacquered cabinets with integrated handles and wood shelving complete the design, making the kitchen the undeniable heart of the home.

In the dining area, the designers chose a large oak table, a suspended lamp composed of white glass globes with a light metal structure in brushed gold, and a large wooden-framed mirror that enhances the sense of depth and space.

In the living room, directly across from the sofas, a visually striking ensemble brings together a fireplace, television, and two wall-mounted shelves combining white and oak wood, providing strategic opportunities to display decorative objects. Two comfortable sofas and a central coffee table made of oak and iron frame, placed over a large rug, complete the scene.

Custom-made furniture for enhanced functionality

In the entrance hall, Laura Martínez designed a bespoke piece that offers abundant storage while cleverly concealing electrical and telecommunications systems. The unit also integrates a mirror and a bench, creating a functional and inviting arrival space.

Custom furniture solutions extend throughout the home — in the cozy reading nook, the spacious office with its built-in library, and the laundry room — maximizing every corner for storage while maintaining the overall stylistic coherence of the project.

Thoughtful design for the en suite bathrooms

In the en suite bathrooms, the original materials were preserved to optimize costs, while improvements in the finishes and the addition of custom-made storage furniture and large mirrors bring greater capacity and continuity with the overall interior design scheme.

The terrace: an urban oasis of calm

The designers transformed the terrace, complete with a swimming pool, into an oasis of serenity in the midst of the city — a perfect retreat for relaxation and outdoor enjoyment.
To add privacy and warmth, the fences were clad with elegant synthetic decking. In the outdoor dining area, a combination of chairs and a custom-made L-shaped bench, shaded by an awning, creates a welcoming atmosphere ideal for outdoor living.

The result is a modern, cozy setting that invites residents to enjoy the outdoors to the fullest.
