Lo Siento Studio’s work is defined by a physical, material approach to graphic solutions—where graphic and industrial design meet in a constant pursuit of craftsmanship and technique.

With this article we start the Graphicsection, and we do it in style, with several projects by Lo Siento Studio, in which typography is the main protagonist, with a very original approach, which is part of the DNA of this graphic design studio.

The main characteristic of Lo Siento ‘s work is the physical and material approach to graphic solutions, in a field where graphic and industrial design go hand in hand, with a constant search for the alliance of artisanal processes. We present a packaging project, two typographic design projects, Topo_graphy and Hueca, and the design of the latest album by the rockers We Are Mono.

Packaging para Awaremess Cure de Claudia di Paolo

Awareness Cure is a revolutionary hair treatment that deeply restores the beauty and health of hair. This luxurious and sophisticated product, created by Claudia di Paolo brings the experience of a physical spa into the home and wants to seduce us with an exclusive treatment, wrapped in a luxurious case designed by Lo Siento Studio, containing 3 products, a small wooden spatula and an instruction booklet.

The packaging design aims to reflect the shape of a stone, pure and irregular, as an essential element that conveys the characteristics of the hair treatment it contains. The packaging is created with a cardboard curiously called paper-stone, which connects perfectly with the original concept of the design where the mineral, the stone, becomes the centre of the idea that wants to reflect nature and purity.

Este proyecto ha sido premiado con el D&AD Wood Pencial Award 2024: Best packaging design of the year, el Laus Plata 2024, y el ADCE European Awards 2024.

Topo_graphy, experimental font for Claudia di Paolo

The design of this volumetric typeface was born from the challenge of translating a deeply organic concept into a tangible and visually striking form. “Inspired by topographical forms, each letter is constructed from layers of papier-mâché that, like geological strata, create a unique sense of depth and texture. The starting point was the pure, functional geometry of Helvetica, a typeface that we decided to transform into something much more irregular and organic, almost as if it had been shaped by nature itself” say the designers.

This typographic project is a direct extension of the project for Awareness Cure by Claudia di Paolo, presented earlier. The three-dimensional alphabet created by Lo Siento Studio dialogues with this visual language, turning each character into a unique, almost sculptural piece that transcends the purely functional.

Each of the 27 letters was designed, machine-cut with millimetre precision and assembled by hand, layer by layer. This handcrafted process brings a tactile and emotional dimension to the project, turning the alphabet into something that is not only read, but also experienced. The result is a typeface that not only communicates, but tells a story of care, detail and connection to the land. It is a bridge between the precision of design and the irregularity of the natural, which finds its perfect balance in the graphic language of Awareness Cure.

Hueca font

In this case it is an experimental project based on typographic construction using the technique of welding. The name of the typeface is directly related to its physical design, creating a conceptual interaction between meaning and form. The letters are formed solely from aluminium outlines, leaving the interior completely empty, accentuating the idea of emptiness and visual transparency. “The result is a composition of free and empty letters, light, volatile, thin and without content, constructed solely from the essential outline made entirely from an aluminium rod. The welded joints are design elements that add a touch of authenticity and craftsmanship to the piece” say the designers.

The winning album by the rock band We Are Mono

The project arrived with the characteristic energy of the rock and roll band We Are Mono from Barcelona, and with an unmistakable spirit: rebellious, vibrant and deeply visual. The band was looking for more than just a cover for their album; they wanted a design that encapsulated their essence, their sound and the intensity of their artistic proposal. “We want something that doesn’t just talk about us, but feels like us,” they told Lo Siento Studio. “Their music, a fusion of brute force and almost mathematical precision, served as direct inspiration for the design concept. The challenge was to translate this balance of chaos and structure into a cover that spoke for itself, even before the listener pressed play” say the designers.

The solution came from a deeply conceptual idea: the Platonic polygons, geometric figures that since ancient times have represented order, perfection and harmony. “But here it was not about replicating the serenity of pure geometry; the intention was to take this base and break it with the chaos and viscerality of rock. The duality between structure and disorder, so present in We Are Mono’s music, guided the design process” the designers tell us.

Borja Martínez founder/creative director and Gerard Miró designer, of Lo Siento Studio

Lo Siento Studio

Lo siento is a graphic design studio in Barcelona, founded in 2007 by Borja Martínez. The team is currently made up mainly of three people: Gerard Miró (polyhedral craftsman), Elena Aubà (senior designer) and Borja Martínez (creative director and founder). Their philosophy is based on creativity, innovation and constant experimentation through artisanal processes as a starting point. Their multidisciplinary approach allows them to explore different fields of design, such as branding, typography, illustration, industrial design, packaging design and art direction, among others.

Lo siento Studio has an artisanal approach, where the designer’s hand plays a vital role in the creation and production of the work. Each project is treated in a unique way, with special attention to detail and originality. The result is designs that aim to excite the consumer/viewer and that seek to stand out for their aesthetic, functional and conceptual quality.

Throughout these years, they have worked for renowned national and international brands such as The Washington Post, Grupo José Andrés, Adidas, El Bulli, Audi, Pilma, Adidas, Mammafiore or the restaurant Disfrutar (Best World Restaurant 2024, 3 Michelin stars), among others. His work has been awarded by important design associations and media such as: ADG (Laus), Graffica Awards or the prestigious D&AD in the UK. Borja is a member of AGI since 2016.

Lo siento Studio is particularly interested in studying identity projects as a polyhedral and polyvalent whole. Craft intelligence in times of an artificial revolution. The main characteristic of his work is the physical and material approach to graphic solutions, in a field where graphic design and industrial design go hand in hand, in a constant search for the alliance of artisanal processes. Branding with a sense of touch.
