Born in Córdoba, Argentina, in 1979 and based in Valencia, Mariela Apollonio is a leading architectural photographer. Since 2008, she has dedicated herself to architectural photography, always combining her professional commissions with a personal artistic inquiry. This blend of practices informs her understanding of photography as, above all, a way of thinking and a tool for bringing meaning to reality.
She studied Fine Arts at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where she also completed a Master’s degree in Photography, Art and Technique. Passionate about education and knowledge-sharing, she has been a guest lecturer in the Master’s in Artistic Production at the same university and has conducted workshops and conferences at institutions such as the European University of Valencia and the School of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Apollonio has worked with architectural studios across Spain, Germany, Italy and Norway. Her photographs have been featured in leading international publications. Her approach is distinguished by an extraordinary command of light and a meticulous attention to detail, texture and materiality — transforming them into narrative elements that suggest latent stories.
Among her artistic projects is The Circle of Art. Directors, in which she portrays museum directors as living sculptures, questioning the traditional roles and power structures within the art and architecture worlds.
Currently living and working between Valencia and Berlin, Mariela Apollonio continues to explore the intersection of architecture, photography and visual storytelling, establishing herself as one of the most influential architectural photographers in Spain and Europe.
