In an era marked by hyperconnectivity and digital excess, interior design finds refuge in the essential: material. Far from the artificial, contemporary spaces embrace the natural not just as an aesthetic, but as a philosophy of life. Wood, stone, clay, linen, and plant fibers become the stars of environments that exude authenticity, imperfect beauty, and ecological awareness.
Beyond a trend. The use of natural materials is not a passing fad. It is the coherent response to a deep-seated need: to reconnect with nature and with ourselves. This return to the organic aligns with the principles of biophilic design, which aims to promote well-being through natural elements in built environments.
Materials with soul that tell stories
Every grain of aged wood, every irregularity in an unpolished stone, speaks of time, origin, and truth. The beauty of natural materials lies precisely in their imperfection. That’s why, now more than ever, raw finishes, textured surfaces, earthy colors, and muted tones that refer to the essential are highly valued.
Solid wood, natural stone, clay and fired clay, plant fibers such as rattan, sisal, hemp, or jute, and fine textiles like linen, organic cotton, or wool are some of the materials currently favored by interior designers.

Ibiza Stone: Tradition and Avant-Garde
In the 2025 edition of Casa Decor, Piedra de Ibiza is one of the standout features, reaffirming contemporary design’s interest in natural materials. The Pedra de Ibiza is a natural stone that symbolizes local identity, serene beauty, and a connection to the Mediterranean landscape. Mined from the only active quarry on the island and crafted by hand, this stone has found its place in contemporary architectural projects and high-design spaces. Its light color, smooth texture, and ability to reflect light make it ideal for creating fresh and elegant interiors.
By the hand of U Interior Design
Together with the designers from the studio U Interior Design and the company Suministros Ibiza, this stone has been introduced in this project not just as an architectural cladding, but as a visual language rich in authenticity.
Used in soils, vertical surfaces, and decorative elements, stone showcases its versatility and expressive power. Its use in signature projects demonstrates that what is local can also be avant-garde, and that the luxury of the present is born from the earth.
Sustainability as an Aesthetic Value. Choosing natural materials is not just an aesthetic statement but an ethical one. Many of them are locally sourced, require fewer industrial processes, and have a more sustainable lifecycle. Additionally, they enhance indoor air quality and create healthier atmospheres.
From Origin to Sophistication. Today’s luxury is not measured in perfect surfaces, but in materials with soul, in honest textures, in spaces that embrace us and connect us to what is essential. Designers and interior decorators understand that the natural does not conflict with the sophisticated. On the contrary: today, elegance is born from the earth.

U Interior Design
The U Interior Design studio is a multidisciplinary team with extensive knowledge of the hospitality sector. Spain, Mexico, Sicily, Jamaica, and Brazil are some of the countries that feature their projects.
“We started out of a calling, believing that through architecture and interior design, it’s possible to influence how people live and improve their quality of life. We are a multidisciplinary creative team of architects, interior designers, and designers.”
They talk about their influences and mention Carlo Scarpa, Gio Ponti, Louis Kahn, Pierre Cardin, and Le Corbusier. “Our favorite era is the Bauhaus, as they laid the foundations and patterns of design, focusing on the importance of functionality and simplicity.” Regarding their choice of materials, they’re very clear: wood, stone, and metal, with a strong preference for natural stone.
They design timeless and unique interiors, inspired by their diverse clients, the requirements, and constraints of each project. That’s why they always strive to design without prejudice, allowing themselves to be guided by intuition and feeling.
