Virginia Payo Azabal

Born in Madrid, Virginia Payo Azabal is a textile artist and graphic designer who lives between Madrid and Vejer de la Frontera (Cádiz). Her practice occupies a deliberately open territory, where the low-warp loom coexists with material research and an increasingly direct relationship with architectural space. Her career has advanced through an accumulation of languages. She trained in window display at the Istituto Europeo di Design and completed that education with studies in graphic design, interior design and set design. That way of seeing, shaped by composition, colour, structure and typography, runs through all of her artistic work today. In

Desirée Petrucci

Petrucci works from her studio in Pistoia, in Tuscany, a territory at the centre of both her life and her art. That place is what makes her painting possible. It is the time that allows her to pause before responding, to listen before showing herself, and that gesture of pause is what appears frozen in every canvas. The path to painting was not direct. Desirée has drawn since childhood, studied Fashion Design at Polimoda, in Florence, and worked for more than a decade as an apparel designer, specialising in sportswear. “the corporate world never truly felt like home”, she admits,

Paco Romero

In Galilea, a small village in Mallorca’s Tramuntana mountains, Paco Romero works clay as it was worked before the wheel and before the mould, with his hands, with stones and wood gathered from the landscape itself, letting the material decide much of what is to happen. All of his work comes out of that studio, whether a piece destined for a home or an intervention conceived for an architecture project. His work does not seek to imitate old forms or reproduce a decorative style associated with the primitive. It is, in his own words, “a way of working in which

Lívia Rizzo Amaral

Lívia Rizzo has shared this text with us, in which she talks about herself and her artistic practice: I grew up in southern Brazil, in a family of artists. I chose to study Design, but spent my university years working in the culinary arts. From an early age, I was captivated by the possibility of transforming materials with my hands and evoking a sensation in others – something capable of lingering in the memory. It was also during this time that I first came into contact with ceramics, whilst attending the studio of a great ceramicist who was our neighbour.

Tere Pensel

Tere Pensel was born in the province of Buenos Aires and trained as a graphic designer at Universidad Kennedy, a visual background that now runs alongside her ceramic practice, which she developed through her studies at the Instituto Municipal de Cerámica de Avellaneda Emilio Villafañe (2023–). That dual formation — the eye that composes and the hands that shape — defines the territory in which she works. Her relationship with material began before art itself. It was her grandmother who taught her to knit, and in that precise, domestic gesture she found an early lesson in manual skill as a

Natalia Correa

Born in Medellín, Colombia, and based in the United States, Natalia Correa is a visual artist and interior designer. Her work — vessels, wall pieces, and organic sculptures made entirely by hand — occupies that diffuse territory where art and design meet without either one yielding ground. Her pieces inhabit the spaces that receive them, bringing presence and character, texture without noise, a quiet material insistence that is not easily forgotten. Getting here was not a straight path. Natalia’s first years of artistic practice were defined by painting on canvas with mixed techniques. She exhibited in Colombia and the United

Maria Economides

The artist Maria Economides was born in Thessaloniki in 1980, into a family working in the timber trade. She grew up surrounded by natural materials — dust, textures, tools, the specific gravity of manual work — in an environment that, as she herself acknowledges, shaped the way she understands matter long before she knew that was what was happening. She studied Business Administration to take over the family business, but the need to work with her hands persisted beneath that other path. In 2010 she moved with her family to Shanghai, where she lived for eight years. It was a

Iko Ishihara

Pascale Zintzen

Born in Verviers, Belgium, Pascale Zintzen grew up surrounded by objects, tools and manual processes. From an early age she was drawn to craft and to the capacity of the hands to transform matter. That curiosity led her to explore different disciplines before arriving definitively at ceramics: she studied Archaeology and Art History, trained in traditional upholstery, and always maintained a close relationship with manual trades. After travelling through different countries, she settled permanently in Barcelona in 2016, a city from which she has developed her artistic practice and studio. Shortly afterwards she discovered ceramics almost by chance, thanks to

Cristina Coelho
