Charles Trevelyan

Charles Trevelyan, born in 1974 in Australia, originally trained in materials science and engineering. Over time, he gradually transitioned from the sciences to the arts, eventually finding a natural home for his work at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery in 2007. Along the way, Charles developed a distinct style that draws on a broad range of influences—including the natural textures and color palettes of his Australian upbringing. Rejecting traditional methods due to his unconventional creative path, Trevelyan is deeply committed to exploring materials and processes to develop furniture, lighting, and design objects inspired by the many ways people respond to the

Zanine Caldas

José Zanine Caldas (1919–2001) was a self-taught artist, designer, and architect from Belmonte, Brazil. For over a decade, he ran a workshop specializing in architectural models, producing more than 500 scale models for some of Brazil’s most renowned architects, including Oscar Niemeyer and Lucio Costa. In 1949, Caldas founded the Fábrica Moveis Artísticos Z, a company that produced standardized plywood furniture aimed at a broader audience. Disillusioned with the capitalist direction of the venture, he abandoned the enterprise and moved to the coastal town of Nova Viçosa. There, he began crafting what would later be known as Móveis Denúncia—protest furniture.

Atelier Van Lieshout

Atelier Van Lieshout is the studio founded by sculptor, painter, and visionary Joep van Lieshout. A graduate of the Rotterdam Academy of Art, Van Lieshout established his studio in 1995 and has since worked exclusively under the name of the collective. The studio’s name acts as a methodology to challenge and subvert the myth of the solitary artistic genius. Over the past three decades, Van Lieshout has built a multidisciplinary practice that blurs the lines between art, design, and architecture. He dissects systems—whether societal structures or the human body—experiments with alternatives, treats exhibitions as laboratories for recycling, and even declared

Aki+Arnaud Cooren

Through their minimalist Franco-Japanese design aesthetic, Aki+Arnaud Cooren seek to subtly integrate references to nature into the interiors and everyday objects they create. They craft harmonies that evolve continuously—just like nature itself—inviting the public to gradually immerse themselves in the present moment. Aki grew up in Tokyo. After spending a year in the United States, she returned to Paris at age 18 to study interior and product design at the École Camondo, where she met Arnaud, originally from northern France. Aki had developed an interest in art during her childhood and studied contemporary art in Belgium before moving to Paris.

Mónica Baquedano

“Although it was clear to me from my childhood that the plastic arts were what I liked most, when I had to choose my university education, I didn’t go for them, probably due to a lack of confidence in myself and the insecurity of artistic activity. My choice was diametrically opposed. I chose the field of urban planning influided by a clear family presence in the field of architecture. In a moment of questioning and professional boredom, I decided to make a change and bet on that path that one day I did not dare to undertake. So I

Virginia Torrego

Virginia Torrego’s work is shaped from a place of deep attention. Her relationship with clay does not respond to urgency or immediate gesture, but to a conscious, unhurried process that respects the rhythms of the material. “My relationship with clay is a form of mindfulness,” she says. Through manual work she finds a way to pause, to observe, and to listen to what unfolds between hands and earth, understanding creation as a dialogue rather than an imposition. Born in Madrid, she initially trained in the Restoration of Antiques and in Sculpture and Art History at university, and worked professionally as

Yayoi Kusama

At the Kyoto School of Arts and Crafts, she studied Nihonga, a traditional Japanese formal style of painting. She moved to New York in 1958, inspired by the rise of Abstract Expressionism and a letter from Georgia O’Keeffe.
