The Denys & von Arend studio is responsible for the interior design and interior work, except for installations, of the headquarters of the world’s leading electrical cable manufacturing company, a three-storey building located in Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona). This project is an example of how design can contribute to improving the quality of life in workspaces. To achieve this, the interior designers have taken into account the technological identity of the company, trying to link it with nature through a biophilic design in which organic shapes and natural plants are the protagonists.
Denys & von Arend has developed the integral interior design project, including the selection of materials (flooring, cladding, enclosures) and the implementation of technical solutions (acoustics, lighting, ventilation), achieving a functional and adaptable working environment, combining individual concentration spaces and dynamic social areas.

“This office interior design project is an example of how interior design can contribute to a more sustainable future. By combining natural elements, technology and bespoke design, we have achieved a working environment that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also fosters collaboration and well-being for people” says Patricia von Arend, interior designer and founder of Denys & von Arend.
The building, a new construction of 5,000m2, has been designed in open spaces, with plenty of natural light, thinking of the link with nature through the concepts of subsoil on the first floor, surface on the second and third floors and vegetation on the roof. The ceilings, stripped on all three floors and only painted white, favour the sensation of spaciousness, respecting the original architecture.
First floor
The first floor houses the reception area with a custom-designed stone counter, the auditorium with a tiered seating area, meeting rooms with glass partitions, which ensure privacy without losing access to natural light, and the company’s boardroom, a formal and elegant space with a large round meeting table.

Here the interior designers relate the concept of subsoil to the roots of the project and compare it to the cables -an essential element for the activity of a company- which are usually hidden in the subsoil. A palette of earth and taupe colours has been used, as well as some nods to the corporate technological culture.

Second and third floors
In addition to a work area, these two floors constitute a core of social connection, where spaces for informal meetings or more private conversations cohabit. Visually, the atrium is a very important element.
The colour palette uses corporate blues and natural greens, although white predominates because it seeks to reflect the technological component of the company.
The large wooden staircase that connects the floors, designed with organic shapes, stands out. The shapes are played with like topographical maps, with different curved volumes and carpets that mark the spaces.
A staggered, fully open, rounded seating area has been designed, which can be used for team discussions. Different micro-environments have also been created, with low tables and chairs, for small group meetings that do not require a great deal of privacy.

Like a kiosk, the office offers a place surrounded by greenery, with a view, where professionals can take a break, equipped with different types of seating.

In addition, there are several customised Phone Booths, designed by Denys & von Arend, with a dark blue acoustic coating. They are equipped with wooden benches and a small table and allow two people to hold a call or conversation without disturbing others.

The luminaire, which is reminiscent of a cable, has been made to measure and its layout generates a high level of lighting comfort on both floors.
The cover
On the deck, a more relaxed atmosphere has been designed for lounging and relaxing, with green and terracotta tones, wooden flooring and islands of lush vegetation, with unobstructed views in the background.
