Doodle Design Studio designs a dreamlike penthouse with a style that celebrates simplicity and elegance while infusing every corner with character and charm

The interior designers of Doodle Design, Maha K and Vijay Kumar, have defined this penthouse in Gurgaon, India, as a space where “soft pastel tones dance in harmony with the recurring symphony of gentle curves, enveloping you in a dreamy charm“.

The project epitomises the studio’s design style: minimalism, flowing curves, textured elements, a predilection for arches, the use of colour as a form of expression and an approach to lighting where lights become objects of art. A style that celebrates simplicity and elegance while infusing every corner with character and charm.

The interior designers say that “As curious designers, we dare to transcend conventional boundaries, reimagining homes as spaces of emotion and calm. We weave narratives inspired by our clients’ personalities and lifestyles, infusing every detail with the essence of their being. The client’s desire for a relaxing ambience with a touch of modern luxury set the tone for the project“.

The interior designers decided to go for a different layout to the original one with only three bedrooms, which has allowed them to achieve larger spaces in all areas of the home.

The entrance, a circular space that already announces the design style developed, gives way to two differentiated areas, as can be seen in the attached plan.

To the right, a large space includes living room, dining room and kitchen. Its corner location allows for a bright panorama with large windows and access to a spacious terrace. This area also includes the bedroom of the owners’ daughter. To the left of the entrance the interior designers have developed the most private area, with a living room, the master bedroom en suite and another bedroom for the son. This area also enjoys a privileged location, typical of penthouses, with great luminosity and access to a second, larger terrace.

In the living room, the most striking features are the micro-cement floor with Venetian terrazzo inlays made of Stone Studio marble, and the wall cladding, made by ColorTale, which display areas of colour in micro-cement, with the rest of the space up to the ceiling in ribbed WPC panels. The exquisitely chosen furniture in the living room includes beautiful sofas, armchairs and coffee table in solid wood from Quba Homes, the lamps of White Teak Company and the custom-made stool by Studio MNT.

In the dining room, which is accessed from the living room through two arches, as in other rooms, and with the central area of the floor in microcement with Venetian terrazzo inlays, the interior designers have chosen a spectacular table and chairs in solid wood by Quba Homes and flowing curtains from Kapaas Furnishings. The chandelier by Ivanka Lumiere takes centre stage in the space, in keeping with the sophisticated style of the home. 

In the kitchen, designed by the interior designers of Doodle Design, and carried out by Precad Interiors, the island with a terrazzo worktop made to measure by ColorTale and the lamps by White Lighting stand out, following the aesthetics of other spaces.

The living room is also a bright and welcoming space, with micro-cement flooring and custom-designed cupboards, where the coffee table stands out for its organic shapes, with three small columns in the same colour as the ceramic tiles on the wall on which the sofa rests.

The master bedroom also enjoys a privileged location, with great luminosity, as it faces the terrace. It features a bed, side table, armchair and footrest made to measure by Studio MNT and a large insulated column covered with wallpaper by Design by Metamorph.

The interior designers have designed a cosy reading corner with bouclé fabric footrest, custom-made by Studio MNT, and an original dressing room featuring a Holz Parker chevron floor from DeCeramica. 

The master bathroom is designed to maintain impeccable order. The earth-coloured Sternhagen toilet and washbasins stand out, along with Kohler fittings and bespoke mirrors. This space is also full of light, which makes it possible to enjoy several plants that bring freshness. The interior designers have continued with the same solution for the floor as in other rooms.

In the daughter’s bedroom, a pale colour palette creates a calm and cosy space with a wardrobe and study desk, custom designed and made by Precad Interiors, on DeCeramica flooring. Studio MNT made the custom-made bed in bouclé fabric and White Lighting Solutions built the lamp designed by the interior designers. A pumpkin cushion from Pottery Barn adds a touch of originality.
