LUV Studio converts an 18th-century monastery into a timelessly elegant villa

The island of Ibiza, jewel of the Mediterranean, is more than a destination, it is a way of life. Through architectural and interior design, LUV Studio has imbued this former 18th century monastery with the magic of the island. Meticulously refurbished, this historic building has been converted into Villa Buganvilia, an exceptional retreat on the wonderful white island, which brings together the richness and historical beauty and lifestyle of the largest of the Pitiusas.

Respectful architectural intervention

This project posed a clear challenge, to create a villa with a contemporary profile and a timeless design while respecting the historical legacy of the building and the cultural and natural environment of its location.

LUV Studio’s intervention was based on a radical redesign that honours the past while enhancing the meanings of elegance and comfort. Through skill and instinct in combining technology and craftsmanship, the architects and interior designers have managed to create a harmonious dialogue between old and new, preserving the essence but adding a touch of timeless luxury.

Warm and authentic interiors

The essence of Ibiza is reflected in every corner of the interior spaces. The unadorned floors and walls draw attention to the preserved original wooden beams in the living room, the arches that connect the different rooms, and the green micro-cement of the custom-made kitchen island.

The neutral tones of the different pieces of furniture add warmth, and the delicate texture of the lime stucco repeated on all the walls give an enveloping sensation that conveys serenity, making the island and its lifestyle the main protagonist of this villa.

A real oasis

The façade of the villa pays homage to the island of Ibiza, combining the iconic white of the island with the local stone skilfully exposed on some walls, achieving a halo of authenticity and fluidity with the Mediterranean surroundings.

The exterior of Villa Buganvilia is a haven of peace and serenity. Adorned with centuries-old fig trees and lush indigenous flora and vegetation, the garden of this villa is the setting for outdoor lounges under Sabina wood pergolas, which filter the light and provide shelter from the sun.

The south-facing swimming pool is accompanied by a barbecue area with an outdoor kitchen and dining area. A large wooden table, sheltered by a pergola, provides the perfect setting for pleasant outdoor meals in the company of friends and family.
