Miriam Alía dazzles at Casa Decor with a vibrant bistro filled with colour and feminine energy, true to her unmistakable style: bold, sophisticated and full of character

The style of Miriam Alía is unmistakable, vibrant, and full of character—bold, colorful, and highly sophisticated. It combines glam, pop, and art deco elements with a fun and contemporary aesthetic. Each interior she designs possesses a visual narrative that creates a sensory and emotional experience. This year at Casa Decor, she presents the Espacio Solana, a bistro created for the ceramics company Nais, radiating an abundant feminine energy. The summer light and a vibrant color palette set the tone for a space that encourages you to linger, enjoy, and be captivated by the senses.

This time, the interior designer blends the rich cultural and artisanal heritage of Mexico with the irreverence and modernity of the Memphis movement. The result: a visual dialogue between textures and geometric shapes that connects the ancestral with the contemporary.

The centerpiece of the space is the bistro bar, topped by a relief mural featuring a mythologically inspired female figure: a goddess who, with her arms raised toward the sun, symbolizes the spiritual union with nature. Surrounding her, a botanical landscape—interpreted in a geometric and stylized manner—references pre-Columbian motifs and traditional mural art, reimagined with a decorative and contemporary approach.

True to her bold chromatic approach, Miriam bets on a rich range of pinks, garnets, purples, and beiges, applied to the small-format tiles from Nais, which dress both floors and walls in various compositions. This ceramic base is complemented by the exquisite fabrics from Misia Casamance, featuring earthy tones and toasted shades that add warmth in curtains, cushions, sofas, and the lamp shades, designed by the interior designer herself.

As is usual in her projects, Miriam has designed custom furniture pieces that reinforce the identity of the space. This time, the bistro tables and unique shelves made by Lagrama stand out, featuring a stunning lighting display created by Häfele.

Miriam Alía (Madrid, 1983) is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Spanish interior design, with a creative approach infused with feminine sensitivity and her own distinct personality. After completing her studies in Architecture and Interior Design in Madrid, Miriam began her career with a constant pursuit of beauty, creating unique compositions. She loves to experiment with bright and pastel colors, such as pinks, lilacs, turquoises, golds, and acidic greens. She is unafraid of unexpected combinations and achieves harmony in palettes that others might find impossible. She blends mid-century, art deco, contemporary, and pop aesthetic furniture and details, adding a glamorous touch that hints at the theatrical. Each interior she designs has a visual narrative that creates sensory and emotional experiences.

Passionate about antiques, she skillfully incorporates them into her designs, blending them with contemporary pieces or creating her own designs. In recent years, she has crafted furniture pieces that reflect her optimistic, sophisticated, and feminine personality, which she includes in her projects as part of each space.

“My career is a constant search for beauty, focusing on the small details that together create a unique composition. I like to break molds and mix styles, not limiting myself to anything. The way I play with color, light, and textures allows me to carry this out” she comments. A philosophy that perfectly aligns with her influences, among which she includes Kelly Wearstler, Iris Apfel, Chahan Minassian, India Mahadavi, Pierre Balmain, Cristina Celestino, and the Memphis style.

In 2019, Miriam was awarded the Interior Designer of the Year at the V Interior Awards, recognizing her distinctive style and contribution to interior design.

She is one of the regular designers at Casa Decor: Casa Decor 2024: Designed the Infinity Lounge for Natuzzi Italia. Casa Decor 2023: Presented the Meraki Lounge for Bang & Olufsen.
