Born in Bilbao in 1962 and currently based in Madrid, Belén Imaz is a photographer with more than three decades of professional experience. From the very beginning, she has collaborated with leading national and international publications such as AD (Spain and international editions), IdeatVogue BrasilElleElle DecoNuevo EstiloTelvaEl País, and Belle Australia, among many others.

Belén Imaz defines herself as a photographic artisan, using her camera—and above all, light—as tools to construct realities that evoke sensations and beauty. Her work seeks to capture the memory embedded in architecture: that which escapes the naked eye, the intangible presence that lends meaning and narrative to an image, elevating it beyond mere decorative depiction. Her approach is marked by a profound sensitivity to objects and spaces, transforming them into protagonists of visual stories that stir emotion and awaken memory.

Throughout her career, Belén has collaborated with numerous architecture and interior design studios, documenting residential projects, hotels, public spaces, and advertising campaigns. Among her most notable projects are works carried out in New York, London, Zurich, Riyadh, Madrid, Mallorca, l’Empordà, Bruges, Berlin, Milan, Antwerp, and Ibiza, among others, as well as portraits of musicians, politicians, designers, and interior architects—figures who have shaped the cultural landscape of our time.

Her photographs have been widely published in design and architecture magazines and digital platforms, solidifying her reputation as a versatile image-maker, deeply committed to visual excellence. She has also participated in exhibitions such as Detrás del Objetivo, shared with Anuca Aísa, where she presented series like Turkana, which captures the vibrant spirit of an African tribe, and Sin límite, a visual reflection on urban life in Mexico City.

Beyond her commissioned work, Belén pursues personal projects that explore the bond between people and the spaces they inhabit. Her passion for visual storytelling leads her to create photographic series that encourage introspection and the discovery of new perspectives. Among her personal works are Setenta y sieteTurkana, and a vivid body of work born from her journey to Panama, where she captured the life, passion, colour, architecture, and nature of the land.
