Rosa Colet restores a coastal home on the Costa Brava, where sea spray kisses the walls and the scent of the ocean becomes part of daily life.

Situated at the farthest point of Llafranc beach, this 80-square-meter duplex apartment is a true seaside retreat. The layout includes a spacious open-plan living–dining–kitchen area, a suite, two additional bedrooms, and a bathroom. Although designed for seasonal use, it offers a profound connection to the sea in summer and a sense of quiet retreat in winter—a space where white and blue dominate, accented by nautical touches and soft lighting that create a gentle, serene atmosphere. A place to bask in the moonlight and greet the rising sun.

“The first time I saw this home, I thought it was a dream,” recalls designer Rosa Colet. “Its uniqueness, the round porthole window gazing out to the sea, called for deep respect—for its original elements and its bond with the Mediterranean. It evoked the sea’s many hues, the white foam, toasted sand, the breeze.”

A seasoned designer of interiors, Rosa Colet always approaches her projects with one eye on the location and the other on the people who will inhabit the space. Her talent lies in weaving a thread that connects both, grounding each project in its context and personalizing it for its owners. This home is no exception.

The heart of the apartment is the open-plan living–dining–kitchen area, which opens onto the sea through large windows and cozy terraces—privileged spaces for sharing moments or contemplating the Mediterranean in solitude.

The kitchen, with its peninsula layout in tones of white and sand, features a silestone countertop and connects directly to a spacious side balcony. Accessed both from inside the home and via an exterior teak walkway, it allows for easy outdoor gatherings without needing to pass through the interior.

On the terrace, a built-in fireplace and a custom work area with a sink—finished in continuous material and framed by solid teak wood doors—echo the warm, natural palette of the walkway.

Upstairs, the main suite is defined by its beautiful circular window, evoking the interior of a ship. To preserve this feature while offering privacy at night, the designer created a smart system to conceal the window, incorporating a built-in bench below and softly lit shelving on either side.

The pitched ceiling, with white slatted wood and exposed beams, continues into the bathroom, adding to the warm, intimate feel of the space. The white headboard is paired with a Ledtube wall light by Marset and a woven straw pendant lamp by Dareels.

At the back of the suite, just before entering the bathroom, a discreet dressing area with white wood doors and semi-glazed fronts covered in woven rattan mesh emits a soft internal glow that adds warmth and elegance.

In the bathroom, a simple reclaimed wooden workbench—once used by a carpenter—serves as a vanity for two round basins, each with its own circular mirror. White wall tiles and grey-toned hydraulic floor tiles complete the understated and harmonious aesthetic.
