Architects and interior designers who refurbish historic homes know that each one of them holds countless moments lived, they have been the scenes of people who lived in them, places with their own voice that need to be listened to and understood. This is what Mireia Torroella has passionately done in this project, as she tells us. “When the client contacted us, he expressed his desire to transform the house into a contemporary space, maintaining and taking maximum care of the original elements“.
Casal Núria is a real architectural jewel from the 18th century, located in the Osona region of Barcelona, a protected building with a historic façade and an enchanting garden. Its architecture is a mixture of noucentista, baroque and modernist elements. The interior design studio Júlia Brunet has refurbished the 190 m² house, which occupies the main floor of the circular-shaped building, which develops around the staircase.
The main focus of the house is on the day area. The kitchen, dining room, living room and study look out onto the exterior through beautiful leaded glass windows, with colourful details that speak of another era, carefully preserved under the century-old look of the coffered ceilings, also carefully preserved and painted white, which modern homes might well envy.
The interior designers have placed the kitchen, with a large island in solid walnut wood, in the centre of this large space together with two dining rooms, indoor and outdoor.

In the interior dining room, a custom-designed glass cabinet stands out in keeping with the classic essence of the house, with decorative mouldings, arched doors and mirrored panelling inside, adding light and depth to the space, and an oak table illuminated by the large Bohemia lamp by Marset.
The outdoor dining room, more intimate, is undoubtedly one of the most charming areas of the house, a place to enjoy the views of the beautiful garden.
The living room, open to an outdoor studio through stained glass windows in the same style and presided over by an original fireplace, has been converted into a peaceful relaxation area, with a white Atemporal sofa and a corner for moments of reading. The adjoining study, with plenty of light and views of the garden, is the ideal space for anyone who enjoys writing.

A bedroom with en suite bathroom and dressing room, plus another courtesy bathroom, make up the night area, designed with sobriety and serenity with a chromatic palette of soft tones, sliding doors with black aluminium profiles and grooved glass to separate the spaces.
Master bedroom. Silence bed by Joquer, bedside tables Ethnicraft, table lamp Funiculí by Marset, organic cotton textiles of Mikmax. Leggera Chair of Cassina and Akari floor lamps by Vitra.
Bathroom. Large-format porcelain tiling, both on the walls and on the custom-made washbasin, combined with Mews tiles of Mutina.
