K-Studio revamps Villa Infinity, an Ibizan home with commanding stone walls and infinite sea views

Nestled in a true paradise in southern Ibiza, Villa Infinity stands proudly on the rugged cliffs of Es Cubells, surrounded by striking red rock formations and the shimmering azure of the Mediterranean. This remarkable Ibizan residence, with its storied stone walls and timeless architecture, has been masterfully reimagined by K-Studio in a stunning renovation that honors its rich heritage while embracing contemporary elegance.

A young couple fell in love with the house and envisioned it as a cosy retreat for themselves, their family and their frequent guests. The house, despite its privileged location with infinite horizon views over the sea and the Pitiusas islands, had undergone numerous previous renovations and required a major renovation, to suit the contemporary island lifestyle we have all dreamed of one day, reflecting the hospitable nature of the new owners, their love of craftsmanship and art and making the most of the extraordinary qualities of the house and its location.

K-Studio, in close collaboration with the owners, have reinvented the house with a different conceptual approach, adapted to the needs of the family, designing all the spaces to enjoy daily coexistence and frequent encounters with their guests.

The architects and interior designers at K-Studio reorganised the spaces to harmoniously group the social areas of the house, which extend into the open-air courtyards. Every design decision, from the main elements to the smallest details, was made with the aim of giving each space meaning and character in the journey of the family history that is leaving its mark.

At the entrance, a surprising pergola

The entrance to the house, designed as a courtyard, enjoys the presence of a pergola that protects it, where a proud centenary olive tree that seems to emerge from the water of a pond and a huge stone on which the porch structure rests reign supreme, a testimony that recalls the nearby rocky islet of Es Vedrà, one of the island’s mythical lúgares.

After enjoying this inspiring patio, the heavy pivoting doors invite us to enter the house with that popular expression:”…even the kitchen…” and the kitchen is the first family room that welcomes us. No doubt, in a house where so much life is enjoyed outdoors, it is interesting to have the kitchen close at hand.

Day zone spaces grouped together

The previously fragmented spaces of the day area were unified into larger, more stimulating environments that evoke stories of everyday life as part of the rituals of conviviality.

The central staircase was remodelled to become a prominent sculptural element of the interior landscape.

In the garden, the swimming pool defines the edge of the plot, blurring the line between water and views. Several lounges and an outdoor gymnasium are located within stone enclosures or under pergolas, creating spaces for relaxation and togetherness.

Privacy for private areas

The private areas are developed in privacy, filtering the intensity of the social life of the house and allowing for a deeper connection with oneself. Each of the five guest bedrooms, spread between the ground and first floors and the poolside annexe, has its own en-suite bathroom with special toiletries and exits to the corresponding terrace.

The children’s room has a playful and flexible configuration for games and relaxation.

Uniquely, the master suite has its own private terrace with unique sea views and a lush rooftop lounge, ideal for stargazing.

An array of natural and handmade materials, meticulously crafted by experts in their specialities, combine with the local vernacular to compose a rich tactile palette.

K-Studio

K-Studio is a Greek studio with a contextual approach that produces unique and immersive experiences through architecture, interior design and landscape design, allowing us to achieve a holistic sense of experience across the full range of spatial qualities within each project. This approach is applied to any scale of project and allows them to treat larger scale and more complex works as collections of smaller studios, creating expansive systems for design with greater clarity, definition and attention to detail.

“We don’t like waste. We make minimal interventions using minimal resources and always prefer to work with the elements to create comfort that is naturally exquisite. Our experience is instinctive and is applied to projects of various programmes. But over the years, through academic research and practical experience, we have evolved to specialise in the design and delivery of projects within the leisure industry” they say.

Its philosophy is to build strong identities and architectural narratives that utilise the local context in balance with contemporary aspirations to elevate and enrich the user’s enjoyment.

“Enjoyment is paramount in determining the success of our designs, from private holiday homes to restaurants, bars, hotels and resorts. But it was also the driving force behind the recently completed designs of two larger-scale projects: a marina on the Turkish coast and the redevelopment of Mykonos airport“.

They have worked for experienced and knowledgeable clients such as Four Seasons and O&O in Athens, and Temes in the Peloponnese. They have also taken their contextual approach to international projects in destinations as varied as Israel, Qatar, Panama and Kuala Lumpur.

Elounda Hills is a sophisticated and eco-friendly destination with a first class infrastructure. Located on the west coast of Mirabello Bay. For such a vibrant and exclusive community, it was important to create areas of relaxation and connection for residents and visitors. Situated on the border between land and sea, space and harbour, natural and man-made, we have located the common areas of what is conceived as a village, transforming the traditional village square into a linear sequence.

Set on a sloping terrain between the towering peaks above and the dense forest covering the valley below, this chalet reinvents traditional alpine living. Inspired by the converted barns of the region, it is a haven for a family and their seasonal guests, a place where the rituals of ski culture and the rhythm of the seasons converge.

Located in a natural cove, just a few minutes from the centre of Athens, and forming part of what is known as the Athenian Riviera, the site extends over lush unspoilt countryside and miles of beach, making it a unique destination.

Extending below the traditional village of Vourliotes, 800m above sea level and subject to the north wind, the vineyard spreads across the valley in a sequence of plateaus supported by stone walls. Rather than creating a building, we dotted the terraced valley with structures that link to and draw inspiration from the pre-existing topography, in order to guide visitors through an organised but spontaneous experience of sensory activations.

The fruit of collaboration with Studio Bonarchi in interior design and styling and the owners of the hotel, it unites modernism with local tradition, reinventing Mykonos hospitality by proposing a relaxed experience of island life. Kalesma is not really a hotel. It is a village, in the traditional Mykonos sense. Kalesma reinvents the concept of the extended family home, as an intimate hospitality destination that invites guests to connect with the essence of life in the Cyclades.

Perched atop Aleomandra Hill in Mykonos, yet almost completely hidden from view, Villa Mandra looks directly out to sea and sunset over the neighbouring island of Delos. A 6-bedroom holiday home built for a young and dynamic couple to enjoy with family and friends, it celebrates its spectacular view from a veranda set in a carefully landscaped stone-walled garden.

Hotel built in the abandoned industrial structures of cellars built by the sea so that ships could load up with wine directly from the tanks, before setting sail for the main foreign markets. Situated on one of the most unspoilt and beautiful stretches of coastline in the western Peloponnese.
